HAI Solutions issued U.S. patent for RFID-enabled QIKcap platform

CARLSBAD, Calif. — The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent 12,714,760, "Sterilization device," to HAI Solutions. The patent issued on August 25, 2026 and covers RFID integration for the QIKcap platform.

QIKcap is our UV-C platform for needle-free IV connectors, granted FDA De Novo authorization for microbial reduction on needle-free luer connectors. An RFID-enabled cap gives each cap a distinct identity. Paired with an AI-enabled device platform, that identity can support compliance visibility, simpler nursing workflow and more consistent connector care across the ICU, operating room, emergency department and general floors.

"Our team is building technology that helps nurses do the right thing for every connector, every time," said Nicholas Perrenoud, CEO of HAI Solutions. He said the patent strengthens the path to an AI-enabled QIKcap platform that supports compliance and gives clinical teams better visibility at the bedside.

Chief Operating Officer Paul Swaney added that the RFID cap and AI-enabled platform are about helping nursing practice, improving compliance and protecting patients.

Availability: The QIKcap System is scheduled for commercial launch in February 2027 and is accepting pre-orders now. RFID-enabled caps and the AI-enabled platform are future work and are not part of the February 2027 launch product. To join the waitlist, contact our team.
