The QIKcap Disinfection Device™ (QDD™) is a proprietary and patented device that combines Ultraviolet-C technology with a Chromatic, Protective luer cap system. Our device and disposable combo deliver superior surface irradiation.

The QIKcap™ is an advanced microbial reduction device designed for IV connectors, impacting more than 300 Million IV catheters placed each year in the US. The software-driven device is handheld, ergonomic, and built on a scalable platform. The QIKcap™ chromatic luer cap is a single-use disposable IV connector cap. This cap combines a chromatic dosimeter and lens allowing UVC light to treat the septum surface of the IV connector providing active microbial reduction.

Currently, alcohol impregnated port protectors are the standard of care for all vascular access lines: Peripheral, PICC, and Central Line. However (IPA) isopropyl alcohol within a luer cap has only been shown to achieve a maximum 4-Log CFU protection, with efficacy taking at least 60 seconds with non-soiled IV connectors.  Since active/optimal microbial reduction requires a 1-minute dwell time Alcohol-based port protectors are not clinically feasible in every healthcare segment, like the OR, where rapid infusions are demanded and workflows are rigorous. Manufacturing inconsistencies, improper clinical use, and lack of compliance have led to less than optimal clinical results across the vascular access space.
